Abim General Hospital

Abim General Hospital is a government-owned facility located in the Northern Region of Uganda, serving as the district hospital for Abim District. Despite being founded in 1969 during the first administration of Milton Obote, the hospital has unfortunately experienced infrastructure deterioration, aging or non-functioning equipment, and staff demoralization due to low pay.Thankfully, the hospital underwent renovations in February 2016, including the rehabilitation of its water supply system. In addition, authorities plan to hire four more physicians and re-equip the facility with new beds and bedding.Abim General Hospital is situated in the town of Abim in the Karamoja sub-region, about 138 kilometers (86 miles) west of the Moroto Regional Referral Hospital. Its geographic coordinates are 02°41’56.0″N, 33°39’28.0″E (Latitude: 2.698892; Longitude: 33.657788).Despite the challenges, Abim General Hospital remains a crucial healthcare provider for the community, offering medical services and support to those in need. The hospital staff is dedicated to providing quality care to patients, and with the upcoming improvements, the hospital is poised to offer even better services to its community.
