Action Coalition on Climate Change (ACCC) is a Ugandan Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 2009 to undertake activities consistent with its Constitution. ACCC’s primary focus is on mitigating and adapting to climatic and environmental changes to ensure sustainable development.ACCC recognizes the need for research and advocacy on policy, climate change adaptation technologies, and indigenous knowledge. Through its efforts, the organization is working to ensure that Uganda is on a better trajectory of mitigating and adapting to climate change.One of the areas that ACCC prioritizes is environment, climate change, and disaster risk reduction (DRR). The organization recognizes the importance of preserving the environment and advocates for the sustainable use of natural resources. ACCC’s work in this area is vital for ensuring the continued existence of our planet.ACCC also addresses the issue of petroleum and extractives governance. The organization raises awareness on the dangers of mercury in Artisanal Small Scale Gold Mining (ASGM). By doing so, ACCC is helping to reduce the risks associated with ASGM and safeguarding the health of communities.In addition, ACCC provides guidance on relevant inputs that farmers should use to maximize returns and ensure food security. Agriculture, gender, and human rights are also areas that the organization tackles. By providing relevant information and support, ACCC enables farmers to make informed decisions, ultimately leading to better livelihoods for communities.ACCC’s dedication to mitigating and adapting to climatic and environmental changes is essential for sustainable development.
