Afrah Development and Relief Agency is a non-profit, voluntary charitable organization that is affiliated with other international NGOs. Established in 2004 by 8 members, Afrah is dedicated to offering relief and development services to vulnerable communities across Uganda.Since its inception, Afrah has been actively working to empower disadvantaged people through participatory development and relief programs that are based on human dignity, self-reliance, and social justice.With the civil wars and political turmoil that occurred in the 80s and 90s, several communities in Uganda were affected in terms of social-economic progress. This led to the collapse of infrastructure, increased levels of poverty, and degradation of the environment.Afrah saw the need to intervene and offer support to these communities. They have been actively involved in emergency relief efforts and community development programs that aim to empower individuals and communities to achieve sustainable development.Afrah’s mission is to empower disadvantaged people through emergency relief and participatory development programs that are based on human dignity, self-reliance, and social justice. They have achieved this mission by offering services that are tailored to meet the needs of the communities they serve.Through their work, Afrah has been able to bring about positive change and transform the lives of many.There are many ways to get involved with Afrah.
