The African Center for Trade and Development (ACTADE) is a trailblazing organization that has been championing domestic and indigenous perspectives on trade in East and Central Africa for over two decades.Established in 2000 as a technical discussion group for trade-related issues, ACTADE has grown to become a leading voice in the promotion of local ownership and participation in trade.ACTADE’s mandate is to influence and facilitate the development and promotion of trade and sustainable development through generating innovative policy ideas and policy alternatives.The organization recognizes that trade can be a powerful engine for economic growth and poverty reduction, but that it must be managed in a way that is inclusive and sustainable.
