  The Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy (ACEMP) is a remarkable not-for-profit organization that has been dedicated to the advancement of Uganda’s energy and mineral sectors since its establishment in 2012. As a registered entity with the National NGO Bureau, ACEMP operates as a prominent Extractive Industries Policy, Research, and Advocacy Think Tank, as well as a Center of Excellence.   With a clear vision to become a center of excellence in research, policy advocacy, and skills development within the energy and mineral sectors, ACEMP tirelessly pursues its mission of promoting sustainable development in Africa’s energy and mineral industries.   At the heart of ACEMP’s strategic plan, spanning from 2017 to 2023, is the ambitious goal of transforming Uganda’s extractive resource wealth into inclusive and sustainable economic and social development. Aligned with Uganda’s 2040 Vision of transitioning from a peasant society to a modern and prosperous nation, ACEMP strives to contribute meaningfully to this transformation. Furthermore, ACEMP recognizes and supports the national development plans that prioritize the petroleum and mineral sectors as key drivers of Uganda’s Vision 2040.   By adopting a comprehensive approach, ACEMP ensures that its work complements these national strategies, ultimately aiming to help Uganda achieve at least 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It actively engages with communities residing in or near resource-rich areas, playing a pivotal role in fostering relationships between the government, the mining industry, and the host communities.   ACEMP takes great pride in its highly skilled technical staff, many of whom have undergone career development courses in various countries such as Australia, Ghana, Ethiopia, USA, Hungary, France, and South Africa. These educational opportunities have exposed the staff to international best practices in mineral and petroleum development, empowering them to employ a well-rounded and globally informed approach in their work.   Through its endeavors, ACEMP contributes to the promotion of good governance, research, capacity building, equity, socio-economic justice, and shared benefits in Uganda’s energy and mineral sectors. As a reliable partner for development, ACEMP actively seeks to facilitate sustainable growth while safeguarding the interests of all stakeholders involved.
