Agoro Sare High School, located in Rachuonyo South Sub-county, Homabay County, is a remarkable institution that has left an indelible mark on the educational landscape of East and Central Africa. With its rich history and commitment to academic excellence, Agoro Sare High School stands tall as a beacon of quality education. Established in 1963 as a single-streamed school, Agoro Sare High School quickly garnered attention for its dedication to nurturing young minds. In that very same year, the esteemed late President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta graced the school with his presence and generously donated funds for the construction of three dormitories. This momentous event served as a testament to the school’s potential and set the stage for its bright future. On the 18th of February, 1968, the school received further honor as the then Vice President and Minister for Home Affairs, Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, officially inaugurated Agoro Sare High School. This auspicious occasion marked a significant milestone in the school’s journey towards academic excellence and propelled it onto a trajectory of growth and distinction. Over the years, Agoro Sare High School has continuously demonstrated exceptional performance, earning widespread recognition and attracting a growing number of students seeking a quality education. As a result, the school evolved from a single-streamed institution to a double stream in 1973. Today, it proudly boasts a ten-stream status, accommodating a population of 2134 students. The success of Agoro Sare High School can be attributed to its exceptional faculty. The school has a highly qualified staff of 84 teachers, with 56 employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and 28 appointed by the Board of Management (BOM). Together, they form a team of dedicated educators who go above and beyond to ensure that every student receives the best possible education. In addition to its esteemed faculty, Agoro Sare High School values the contribution of its 57 support staff members. Their commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment plays a vital role in the overall development and success of the students. Situated on a sprawling 16-hectare piece of land within Oyugis Town, Agoro Sare High School provides a serene and conducive atmosphere for learning.
