Apac General Hospital

Apac General Hospital, also known as Apac Hospital, is a vital healthcare facility located in the heart of Apac town, in the Northern Region of Uganda. Established in 1968, the hospital has been serving the healthcare needs of the local community for over five decades.Despite being an essential healthcare facility in the region, Apac General Hospital is facing several challenges. The hospital’s infrastructure is old and in need of significant renovation, and there is a severe shortage of staff. Currently, the hospital has only three doctors, which is not enough to provide adequate care to the growing number of patients.To address these challenges, the Uganda Ministry of Health allocated USh 500 million to renovate Apac General Hospital in the 2015/2016 Financial Year. The renovation work commenced on 2 December 2015 and was expected to be completed by 1 April 2016. The project involved demolishing the old maternity ward and building a new one that includes an antenatal wing. The renovation work also included replacing the electrical system, broken doors and windows, and repairing the floor, toilets, and private rooms with Terrazzo tiles.With the ongoing renovation work, Apac General Hospital is set to become a state-of-the-art healthcare facility in the region, providing modern and efficient healthcare services to the people of Apac District and its neighboring areas of Kiryandongo, Kole, and Oyam.In conclusion, Apac General Hospital plays a critical role in providing healthcare services to the local community. With ongoing renovation work, the hospital is poised to become a modern and efficient healthcare facility, providing high-quality healthcare services to the people of the region.
