Arua Regional Referral Hospital – A Lifeline in the Heart of Northern UgandaArua Regional Referral Hospital, affectionately known as Arua Hospital, is a vital medical facility located in the heart of the town of Arua, in Northern Uganda. It serves as the referral hospital for eight districts, including Adjumani, Arua, Koboko, Maracha, Moyo, Nebbi, Yumbe, and Zombo, and also receives patients from neighboring regions of South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.Despite being a public hospital, funded by the Ugandan Ministry of Health, Arua Hospital provides free general care services to all its patients. The hospital is one of the thirteen Regional Referral Hospitals in Uganda and is recognized as one of the fifteen Internship Hospitals where Ugandan medical school graduates can serve a year of internship under the guidance of experienced specialists and consultants.With a bed capacity of 272, Arua Hospital admits more patients than it can comfortably accommodate, often resulting in patients sharing beds or sleeping on the floor. Nevertheless, the hospital’s dedicated medical staff continues to provide high-quality healthcare services to all who seek treatment.Arua Hospital’s location in Arua District, West Nile sub-region, in the Northern Region of Uganda, makes it easily accessible to patients from all over the region.
