Bugiri General Hospital

Bugiri General Hospital, located in the heart of Bugiri town along the Jinja-Tororo highway, is a 100-bed, government-owned facility providing essential healthcare services to the people of Bugiri district, as well as surrounding districts including Iganga, Busia, Namayingo, Mayuge, and Namutumba.Although established in 1967 by the Obote I government, the hospital’s infrastructure and equipment have since deteriorated, leaving the remaining staff overworked, underpaid, and under-motivated. Despite these challenges, Bugiri General Hospital continues to serve the local community with dedication and commitment.In 2015, the Uganda Ministry of Health contracted Alliance Technical Services Limited to carry out extensive repairs at the hospital, at a cost of UGX 699,856,460, in a bid to improve the hospital’s facilities and services. The repair work is expected to conclude in August 2016, with the hope that the hospital will be able to provide even better services to the local community.Bugiri General Hospital is an important asset to the people of Bugiri and surrounding areas, providing a vital service that is much-needed in this part of the country. Despite its challenges, the hospital remains committed to providing quality healthcare to its patients and improving the health outcomes of the communities it serves.
