Chuka University, located in Tharaka Nithi County, is a public institution committed to providing high-quality education to students in Kenya’s Eastern region. Established through a legal notice in 2007, the university was a constituent college of Egerton University and the successor of Egerton University Eastern Campus College, Chuka. Since its inception, the university has been fulfilling the government’s objective of enhancing education access and equity to the people in the region and Kenya at large.Located approximately 186 km from Nairobi along the Nairobi-Meru highway, Chuka University is situated in a rural setting on the eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level. The university’s serene environment offers students a conducive learning environment away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.Chuka University prides itself on providing access to high-quality and affordable university education to the people living in the Eastern region and Kenya at large. The university is home to six campuses, including the main campus in Chuka, Igembe Campus, Embu Campus, Chogoria Campus, Tharaka Campus, and Town Campus. The Egerton campus is located in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).At the helm of the university’s leadership is Prof. Erastus Njoka, the Vice Chancellor, assisted by two DVCs, two Registrars, and a Finance Officer. Under his leadership, the university has made significant strides in providing quality education, research, and innovation. Students are also empowered to lead through the Chuka University Students Association (CUSA), which is elected by students at the beginning of every year. The current chairperson is Oscar Kipchumba.Chuka University is dedicated to providing students with an all-round university experience. The university’s student life is vibrant, with students enjoying easy access to Chuka Town and Ndagani market for socio-economic services. The student center is almost complete, offering recreational facilities such as a swimming pool.
