From its humble beginnings as Kericho Kindergarten in 1979, the academy has grown into a reputable establishment, providing quality education to students across the region. Eland Academy’s rich history showcases its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. In the early days, Kericho Kindergarten opened its doors to a modest number of three children and a team of four dedicated educators. The seeds of education were sown, and the vision for a nurturing learning environment began to take shape. As the years went by, the academy flourished, accommodating the growing number of eager young minds seeking knowledge and guidance. Recognizing the need for expansion, in 1980, a new classroom was constructed to cater to the increasing enrollment. The academy’s reputation spread, attracting more students and fostering a sense of community within its walls. In 1986, a pivotal moment arrived when Eland Academy relocated to the Kericho Club compound, offering a spacious setting for children to explore their potential. Continuing their progressive journey, Eland Academy introduced an introductory class in 1987, paving the way for younger children to embark on their educational journey. The following year marked the establishment of the primary section, with the inaugural Standard 1 class comprising 21 enthusiastic learners. At this point, the school transitioned from Kericho Kindergarten to Eland School and Kindergarten, signifying its growth and evolution. Further elevating their commitment to education, Eland Academy found its current home near the Kericho Green stadium, off the Kericho-Nyagacho road, in January 1992. With this move came the expansion of classes up to Standard Four, solidifying the academy’s foothold in providing education from early childhood to primary school levels. In 1998, a significant milestone was achieved as the first group of Standard 8 students sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations. This marked a proud moment for Eland Academy, as the dedication of its educators and the hard work of its students culminated in academic success. The journey of Eland Academy did not end there. In 2002, the academy took another bold step forward by establishing its secondary section at the same location. This expansion allowed Eland Academy to provide continuity in education, guiding students through their formative teenage years and preparing them for higher education and future endeavors.Today, Eland Academy stands tall as an esteemed educational institution that embodies the values of knowledge, growth, and character development.
