Gulu College of Health Sciences, established in the 1950s as a midwifery school, has grown to become one of Uganda’s most renowned health institutions. This government-run institution is dedicated to training healthcare professionals through research-driven clinical practice to promote quality, equitable, and safe clinical service delivery.The college has an impressive history of service, research, and student education spanning over six decades, making it a trusted institution in Uganda’s health sector. With a current student population of 444, the institution plans to enroll up to 1500 students by the end of the plan period.In response to the changing education and training landscape, Gulu College of Health Sciences has implemented Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) as part of the BTVET Strategic Plan. The institution offers diploma courses in Public Health Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Service Management, and Anesthesia, among others.Gulu College of Health Sciences, formerly a school for Clinical Officers, is now a leading allied health institution that produces professional health officers. The school’s transformation has been remarkable, with the introduction of new courses and programs to meet the changing needs of the healthcare industry.The institution examines students on a semester basis, and the Uganda Allied Health Examination Board (UAHEB) conducts the examination.
