Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital (HICH) is a beacon of hope for children in need of healthcare in the Western Region of Uganda. Established in 2009, this pediatric general hospital is the second entirely pediatric hospital in the country, with a collaborative effort from various stakeholders. Located in the city of Mbarara, in Mbarara District, HICH is situated approximately 3 kilometers (2 mi), west of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, the largest hospital in the Western Region of Uganda.HICH has a total bed capacity of 55, and serves over 20,000 outpatients and 3,900 annual admissions. The hospital is operated by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau, and patient user fees account for 45.3 percent of the total hospital annual income.What sets HICH apart is its commitment to providing quality healthcare to children in need, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
