Ishaka Adventist Hospital is a rural hospital located in the town of Ishaka, Bushenyi District, Western Uganda. Since 1950, the hospital has been serving the poor from the rural districts of Bushenyi, Sheema, Rubirizi, Mitooma, Buhweju, Kasese and Ntungamo. The hospital has a capacity of 120 beds and offers a wide range of services through its ten departments. The Male and Female Wards are well-equipped and staffed by dedicated medical personnel. The Maternity Ward provides excellent maternal care services to expectant mothers. The Maternal and Child Health Services department ensures that the health needs of mothers and their children are met. The Radiology Services department is equipped with modern equipment to facilitate accurate diagnosis of illnesses. The Dental Care Services department provides comprehensive dental care to patients. The Lifestyle and Wellness Centre focuses on preventive healthcare, offering services such as nutrition counseling and stress management. The Laboratory Services department conducts diagnostic tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various illnesses. The Chaplaincy Department provides spiritual support to patients and their families, while the HIV Clinic offers care and treatment to patients with HIV/AIDS. Ishaka Adventist Hospital is not just a hospital, but a hub of medical education and research. The hospital has two affiliated medical training institutions on its property: Ishaka Adventist School of Allied Health Sciences and Ishaka Adventist School of Nursing and Midwifery. These institutions train healthcare professionals who are committed to serving their communities with excellence. In September 2020, Ishaka Adventist Hospital implemented Stre@mline Health, an EMR for Africa that enables clinicians in resource-poor settings to deliver healthcare efficiently by providing key patient safety prompts across the entire patient journey. This technology has helped the hospital to streamline its operations and improve patient outcomes.
