KAG East University: A Haven of Excellence in Ministerial Education

KAG East University has a rich history that can be traced back to the sixties, when the Assemblies of God USA established the Northern Tanganyika Bible School in Tanzania. Most of the KAG leaders received their ministerial training there, and in the 1970s, the AG Division of foreign missions decided to shift the Arusha Bible School from Tanzania to Kenya.Rev. Delmer Kingsriter, the then American AG moderator in Kenya, approached the Kenyan government for allocation of land, and a seven and a half acres of land in Buru Buru was granted. In early 1978, Morris Williams, former USA AG General Superintendent, led a group of missionaries and KAG leaders in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new EAST property.EAST opened its Buru Buru campus in September 1979 with only four buildings at various stages of completion. Despite the challenges, EAST as a regional school for East and Central Africa remained committed to offering ministerial training to various Pentecostal and Evangelical church organizations.Over the years, EAST has undergone significant growth and development. In the year 2000, EAST ceased to be a regional school and became a national school under KAG leadership. It received full government recognition for its academic programs, both at undergraduate and graduate levels, from the Commission for University Education (CUE) in 2011 and 2012, respectively.The late KAG General Superintendent and Chancellor of EAST Bishop/Dr. Peter Njiri presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of a 68-acre piece of land in Kitengela as the home of KAG EAST University in mid-2011. The Kitengela University Campus admitted its first students in January 2015, and in November 2016, KAG EAST University received its full charter by the Commission of University Education in a ceremony presided over by H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of the Republic of Kenya, at State House, Nairobi.Today, KAG East University is a haven of excellence in ministerial education, offering cutting-edge programs that prepare students to become leaders in their respective fields.
