Katakwi General Hospital

Providing Healthcare in Uganda’s Eastern Region

Katakwi General Hospital, also known as Katakwi Hospital, is a government-owned hospital located in the Eastern Region of Uganda. Established in 2004 as Katakwi Health Centre IV, the hospital was upgraded to a full-fledged hospital in 2011 to serve the growing population of Katakwi District and the neighboring districts of Amuria, Kapelebyong, Kumi, Nakapiripirit, and Napak. Conveniently situated in the central business district of Katakwi town, the hospital is easily accessible to the local community. Its location, approximately 52 kilometers northeast of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital and 118 kilometers southwest of Moroto Regional Referral Hospital, makes it a vital healthcare provider for the people of Katakwi and the surrounding areas. Katakwi General Hospital is committed to providing quality healthcare to its patients. Despite being understaffed and underfunded, the hospital offers a range of services including outpatient and inpatient care, maternity services, surgical procedures, and laboratory and diagnostic services. The hospital also offers HIV/AIDS counseling and testing services, making it an essential partner in the fight against the pandemic.
