 KONOIKE CONSTRUCTION CO.LTD, a renowned name in the construction and transportation industry, has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1871 by Chujiro Konoike. From its humble beginnings as a private firm, KONOIKE quickly specialized in the construction and transportation sectors, setting the stage for its remarkable growth and success. Over the years, KONOIKE expanded its operations across different regions, solidifying its presence as a leading player in the industry. In 1908, the company extended its business to the district of Northern Kyushu, followed by further expansions in Tokyo, Hokkaido, and Tokai in subsequent years. This relentless pursuit of growth led to the firm’s incorporation as a joint-stock company in 1918, with a capital of One million yen, enabling them to scale their operations even further. Recognizing the importance of a strong national network, KONOIKE laid the foundation for a comprehensive business network by venturing into the districts of Chugoku in 1920. This strategic move bolstered their capabilities and positioned them as a key player in the construction industry throughout Japan. In its commitment to diversification, KONOIKE established separate entities to excel in specific areas. In 1945, the transportation sector was separated to form “Konoike Transportation Co., Ltd.,” focusing solely on transportation services. Similarly, in 1961, the gas pipe laying and fitting work sector became an independent entity named “Otori Gas Fitting Work Co., Ltd.” These divisions allowed KONOIKE to sharpen its expertise and deliver exceptional services across various domains. With an eye towards expanding their global footprint, KONOIKE ventured into international markets by establishing Thai Konoike Construction Co., Ltd. in 1982. This move marked their foray into the Southeast Asian region, leveraging their expertise and contributing to the development of infrastructure beyond Japan’s borders. A testament to their unwavering commitment to quality, KONOIKE obtained ISO certifications for different departments. The engineering works department of Osaka branch and the construction department of Tokyo head office secured ISO9001 certification in 1997, with Nagoya branch following suit in 1998. In 2001, seven domestic sections and the overseas business department achieved ISO14001 certifications, underscoring their dedication to environmental stewardship. Throughout the years, KONOIKE continued to evolve and adapt to changing times. In 2003, the company underwent a significant transformation, establishing Otori Holdings, Co., Ltd. as its 100% parent company. This strategic move solidified their corporate structure and facilitated streamlined operations, enabling them to deliver exceptional results to their clients. Today, KONOIKE CONSTRUCTION CO.LTD stands as a consolidated subsidiary of Sekisui House, Ltd., further augmenting their capabilities and synergies within the construction industry.
