Matany Hospital

A Comprehensive Healthcare Provider in North Eastern Uganda

Matany Hospital is a private-not-for-profit hospital that has been serving the people of North Eastern Uganda since 1974. Affiliated and accredited to Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau, the hospital is owned by the Registered Board of Trustees of Moroto Catholic Diocese and is governed by a Board of Governors. With a capacity of 250 beds, the hospital provides high-quality healthcare services through its Obstetrics/Gynaecology, Internal Medicine, Tuberculosis, Paediatrics and Surgery Departments. The hospital has grown significantly since its inception in 1966 as a small dispensary by the Comboni Missionary Sisters. Today, it is a large health care complex that also includes a training school for nurses and midwives. The hospital is located in Matany sub-county, Bokora County, Napak District in the north eastern part of Uganda. Apart from the core healthcare services, Matany Hospital also provides diagnostic laboratory, diagnostic imaging, general surgery, orthopaedic and physiotherapy, counselling, HIV/AIDS clinic, antenatal clinic and prevention of mother to child transmission services. The hospital also runs a Nursing Training Institution, which has an average intake of 20 CN-students and 15-20 CM-students annually. In addition, the hospital has a well-established Technical Department that provides general repairs and maintenance of the hospital’s equipment, plant and infrastructure. The department generates income by providing services to the public. Matany Hospital also has a Human Resource Development Centre, which provides opportunities to NGOs for conducting trainings and workshops, generating income for the hospital.
