Menyenya S.D.A High School!

Menyenya S.D.A High School has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1975 by the Seventh Day Adventist Church community. At that time, there was a great need for secondary school education, but the number of secondary schools was limited. The school was built on a small plot of land purchased from a British settler by the Menyenya Co-operative Society. The settler’s house on the land was transformed into a versatile building that housed the administration offices, classrooms, and a dormitory to accommodate the first students. The servants’ quarters were also repurposed to serve as staff housing. To further expand its facilities, the school acquired a house and its servant’s quarter from the Ministry of Agriculture. The principal currently resides in the house, while the boarding teacher occupies the servant’s quarter. With the collective effort of parents, the Kenyan government, and generous well-wishers, Menyenya S.D.A High School has experienced remarkable growth over the years. 

Facilities and Infrastructure:

Today, Menyenya S.D.A High School boasts an impressive array of facilities. Thanks to the contributions from various stakeholders, the school now comprises 24 classrooms, 14 staff houses, a dining hall, a kitchen, three well-equipped science laboratories, a home science room, a computer laboratory, a library, a modern ICT center, a school chapel, a dispensary, a poshmill, a generator, a water treatment plant, a bakery, and modern four-story boys’ and girls’ dormitories. Additionally, the school owns a bus and a van to facilitate transportation for students. The original colonial house that once stood on the premises has been transformed into the administration block, housing various offices, including the administration offices, examination office, boarding office, mathematics department office, and the humanities office. Each department is equipped with dedicated office space to enhance administrative efficiency. 

Ongoing Developments:

Menyenya S.D.A High School is committed to continuous improvement and expansion. Currently, the school is under construction for a modern tuition complex, which will comprise 20 additional classrooms. Furthermore, the school is actively developing its playgrounds to provide ample recreational spaces for students. As part of its environmental efforts, Menyenya S.D.A High School also maintains a tree plantation, contributing to a greener campus. In total, the school covers approximately 20 acres of land. 

Academic Achievements:

Over the years, Menyenya S.D.A High School has consistently achieved excellent results in national examinations, boasting an impressive pass rate of 80%. This success is a testament to the dedication of the school’s staff, the support of parents, and the hard work of the students themselves.

Menyenya S.D.A High School has been fortunate to have experienced and capable principals leading the institution. Since its establishment, the school has seen the following principals:

1. Mr. Alfred Momanyi Rosasi: 1975 – 1981
2. Mr. Job Gesembe Ong’ombe: 1981 – 2000
3. Mr. Stephen Momanyi Makori: 2000 – 2015
4. Mr. Charles Maangi Maoga: 2015 – To Date

Under the guidance of these esteemed leaders, Menyenya S.D.A High School has grown into a reputable educational institution, providing quality education to students within East and Central Africa. Menyenya S.D.A High School is a remarkable institution with a rich history and a commitment to excellence. With its extensive facilities, ongoing developments, and impressive academic achievements, the school continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of its students.
