Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park, located near Morogoro, Tanzania, is a captivating destination that will leave visitors in awe. Established in 1964, this 3,230 km2 (1,250 sq mi) park is the fourth largest in the country and is crossed by Tanzania’s A-7 highway. The southeast of the park is less rich in wildlife, but it is equally captivating.The fauna in the park is diverse, with many species characteristic of the African savannah. The park boasts a subspecies of giraffe, which biologists consider the link between the Masai giraffe and the reticulated giraffe. Other animals in the park include elephants, zebras, impala, eland, kudu, black antelope, baboons, wildebeests, and buffaloes. Visitors can also enjoy sightings of hippos at the two artificial pools located about 5 km from the north of the park.
