Mulago National Referral Hospital is a national referral hospital with a rich history that dates back to 1913. Established by Albert Ruskin Cook, the hospital has been at the forefront of healthcare in Uganda, providing excellent patient care, training doctors, and conducting research. Over the years, the hospital has faced challenges, including the turbulent years of the 1970s and 1980s, when the country’s health infrastructure broke down, and many experts left in search of greener pastures. However, despite these challenges, the hospital has managed to maintain its reputation as a center of excellence in patient care. Mulago National Referral Hospital operates a bed capacity of 1,500, ensuring that patients from all over the country can access medical attention. The hospital also has specialized services in various disciplines such as General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Neurology, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Renal Dialysis, and Accident and Emergency.
