Naguru General Hospital

Naguru General Hospital, also known as China-Uganda Friendship Hospital Naguru, is a state-of-the-art hospital that was built by the Government of China as a gift to the Government of Uganda. Located in the heart of Kampala, the hospital provides quality healthcare services to the residents of Nakawa Division, the Kampala Metropolitan Area, and other Ugandans. The hospital, built between 2009 and 2012 at a cost of approximately US$8 million, boasts seven buildings and a wide range of facilities, including four operating rooms, a maternity ward, a pediatric unit, a teenage center, a blood bank, a radiology department, and housing for medical staff. The hospital is also equipped with a CT scanner and other cutting-edge medical equipment to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Naguru General Hospital was officially handed over to the Government of Uganda in 2012 and is jointly administered by the Uganda Ministry of Health and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). The hospital’s mission is to provide affordable and accessible healthcare services to all Ugandans, with a particular focus on serving the residents of Nakawa Division and the Kampala Metropolitan Area. One of the hospital’s key objectives is to decongest Mulago National Referral Hospital, the only general public hospital serving an estimated 3 million inhabitants of the Kampala Metropolitan Area. Plans are underway by the Government of Uganda to construct a general hospital in each of the five divisions of Kampala by 2016. In the meantime, Naguru General Hospital is playing a critical role in providing much-needed healthcare services to the people of Kampala. The hospital employs 356 staff, led by the executive director, Doctor Edward Naddumba. The hospital’s staff is dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to all patients, and they work tirelessly to ensure that every patient receives the best possible care.
