Namagunga Primary Boarding School

Namagunga Primary Boarding School has a proud history of providing quality education to children in Uganda. Founded in 1936 by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa, the school was dedicated to St. Theresa and aimed to provide education to the girl child. Located in Namagunga Parish, Mukono District, the school has grown tremendously since its inception, with a current population of 1,082 pupils, 36 teachers, and 72 support staff. Despite facing challenges such as inadequate building structures, Namagunga Primary Boarding School has maintained its position as a top-performing institution in the country. The school’s success can be attributed to its commitment to providing quality education and its focus on the girl child. Namagunga Primary Boarding School has a strong management team headed by Professor Edward Kirumira, who is also the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences at Makerere University Kampala. Under the leadership of Rev. Sr. Mary Assumpta Babirye, the school continues to attract a large number of enrollments every year. Namagunga Primary Boarding School has a unique history, having been housed in buildings constructed in the early 1920s as a maternity center under Mother Kevin’s supervision. The school has come a long way since its inception, with a student population that has increased from less than 200 to over 1,000. Namagunga Primary Boarding School has a rich legacy of producing graduates who go on to become leaders in their communities.
