A Hub of Innovation and Excellence in Teacher Training.NTC Kabale is a gem of an institution, nestled in the serene South-Western region of Uganda, within the bustling Kabale Municipality. Established in 1984, this National Teacher’s Training College has been producing quality teachers for decades, with a focus on secondary teachers training, in-service training for primary school teachers, and nursery teachers training.In addition to these, the College offers Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers training, which is currently in high demand, making the trained teachers highly marketable.Affiliated to Kyambogo University Faculty of Education, NTC Kabale adheres to the set standards of the University, ensuring that its admissions, course content and practices meet the highest standards.The College is also a science-based institution, which aligns it well with the current government focus on prioritizing science subjects and contributing to the increase of secondary school science teachers.One of the unique features of NTC Kabale is that it is the only college in Uganda that trains teachers for Kiswahili language, which is being promoted nationally. In addition, the College has been a center of critical innovations, having initiated the Patriotism clubs that have steadily spread across other Colleges and in secondary schools.The College’s 68.4 acres of land within the Municipality of Kabale town is a prime piece of real estate, with ideal infrastructure of buildings, roads, pathways, water, power supply and a farmland, providing a great opportunity for further development. The Institution is privileged to be in partnership with the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel), which has provided tremendous support to improve the College infrastructure and various capacity building programs for the Governing council, management, and staff.The College is governed by a strong Governing council fully instituted with key sub-committees. The council provides direction in regard to policy framework operationalization, in alignment with the Tertiary and other institutions act, the education service commission regulations, and standing orders. The management, headed by the principal, oversees the day-to-day operations of the College.With a total of 2311 students enrolled in the College, and a staff of 52 teaching and 56 non-teaching staff, NTC Kabale is a hub of innovation and excellence in teacher training. The institution is working towards attracting more girls to improve the male to female ratio, making it an inclusive institution that provides equal opportunities for all.In conclusion, NTC Kabale is a true embodiment of quality teacher training in Uganda. With its unique offerings, innovation, and commitment to excellence, it continues to be a beacon of hope for the next generation of teachers in Uganda.
