  Ongata Academy stands as a testament to the power of a vision brought to life. Founded on Monday, 4th January 2000, by the visionary couple, Mr. and Mrs. Melau, Ongata Academy has steadily evolved into a vibrant institution that continues to shape young minds with unwavering dedication.   The school’s humble beginnings are often overlooked, for its current magnificence belies its modest start. Like the slow and steady growth of a sapling, Ongata Academy emerged, poco a poco, from its nascent stages to become the remarkable establishment it is today.   In its infancy, Ongata Academy welcomed a mere four children through its doors. Preschool and classes 1 to 4 were the initial offerings, accompanied by a small but committed team of six teachers and three support staff members. Remarkably, many of these pioneers still contribute their expertise within the institution, a testament to their enduring dedication and belief in the school’s mission.   Even in those early years, Ongata Academy demonstrated its commitment to providing comprehensive education. Recognizing the importance of accessibility, the school even arranged transportation for its pupils, utilizing a humble borrowed station wagon. This commitment to the students’ well-being and convenience laid the foundation for the school’s future success.   A pivotal moment arrived in 2004 when the first class of Ongata Academy sat for the national Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. This milestone marked a turning point, solidifying the school’s position as a formidable contender within the educational landscape. The exceptional performance that year exceeded all expectations.   Out of the 18 pupils who sat for the exams, an impressive 14 secured coveted spots in national schools, a remarkable achievement for such a young institution. The top-scoring student achieved an outstanding 459 marks out of a possible 500, earning the title of the best candidate in the Kajiado district and the second-best in the entire Rift Valley. This exceptional accomplishment was a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and its students’ holistic development. The school’s rise to prominence was undoubtedly guided by a higher power.   As Ongata Academy soared to new heights, the student population grew to approximately 104 pupils, supported by a dedicated team of 11 teaching staff. This ensured an ideal teacher-to-pupil ratio of 1:10, enabling personalized attention and fostering an environment conducive to optimal learning.   Today, Ongata Academy stands as a powerhouse in the education sector, admired for its unwavering dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals. With a strong foundation built on incremental growth, this institution continues to empower generations of students, molding them into future leaders and change-makers.
