Restoration Gateway Hospital:

Restoration Gateway Hospital (RGH), a private Christian-affiliated medical center in Uganda, has been a part of a master plan to rehabilitate war-torn Northern Uganda since 2005. Founded by Dr. David Tim McCall and his wife Janice, the hospital has been under construction since 2012 and is being expanded in phases. Located in Bedmot Village, in Karuma Township, on the western banks of the Victoria Nile, RGH is approximately 6 kilometers east of the Kampala-Gulu Highway. It is about 40 kilometers north-east of Kiryandongo, the location of the district headquarters. The hospital is easily accessible by road and offers a range of medical and surgical services to the local community. The hospital has several programs, including a nursing school, a dental school, and residency training programs in major medical and surgical disciplines. It also has a modern agricultural farm, a radio station, homes for orphaned children, and primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions. Plans are underway to introduce adult education, vocational education, and computer literacy training. RGH has a strong international collaboration with BaylorScott & White Healthcare Systems, a leading healthcare system in the United States. This partnership has helped RGH improve the quality of its services and expand its capacity to serve more patients. In April 2018, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda commissioned the hospital and pledged to extend the national electricity grid to the facility, reducing the hospital’s dependency on diesel fuel electricity generators. He also promised to tarmac the 6-kilometer access road to the hospital. RGH has been providing hope and healing to the people of Northern Uganda, a region that has been ravaged by war for many years. The hospital’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community is commendable, and its efforts to provide education, training, and other essential services are making a significant impact on the lives of many.
