RICE-WN, an indigenous NGO based in the West Nile sub-region of Uganda, is committed to promoting human rights and empowering communities through sustainable development.With five core program areas – environment and natural resources, skills development, sustainable agriculture, integrated humanitarian response, and community health – RICE-WN envisions a self-reliant, sustainable and holistically transformed society.Since its founding in 2004 and legal registration by the registrar of companies and the NGO bureau, RICE-WN has made significant strides in empowering vulnerable communities and groups, with a focus on hard-to-reach areas.The organization’s three offices in Arua town, Moyo, and Nwoya districts provide easy access to its programs, which promote sustainable use and management of natural resources, equip individuals with marketable skills, promote sustainable agriculture, provide emergency relief to vulnerable communities, and improve access to basic health services.RICE-WN’s community focus is evident in its approach to development, which is centered on empowering communities and promoting their dignity as humans.
