Ruharo Mission Hospital is a privately-owned, non-profit community hospital located in the Ruharo neighborhood of Kamukuzi Division, in the city of Mbarara, Uganda. Established in 1981 by the late Bishop Amos Betungura, the hospital is affiliated with the Anglican Church of Uganda and is accredited by the Uganda Ministry of Health and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau.With a bed capacity of 100, Ruharo Mission Hospital provides general medical services, organized useful rehabilitation services, eye care services, and operates several health centers within the Ankole sub-region of the Western Region of Uganda. The hospital is a fee-paying facility but ensures that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. The fees collected from patients partially cover the total hospital expenses.What sets Ruharo Mission Hospital apart is its community spirit. Despite being a fee-paying hospital, it remains accessible to all members of the community, regardless of their socio-economic status. The hospital’s fees are reasonably priced, and it operates on a sliding scale to ensure affordability for all.The hospital also supports the local community by providing education and training programs for healthcare workers, and by sponsoring health outreach programs in rural areas. Ruharo Mission Hospital is administered by a Hospital Management Committee, and it prides itself on its patient-centered approach to healthcare.
