Rural Efforts for Action in Development (READ Uganda) is a non-governmental organization that has been serving the marginalized communities of Uganda since its establishment.With its headquarters situated in Kasana-Luweero Town Council and branch offices located in Kigumba Town-Kiryandongo District and Kilisizo in Rakai district, READ Uganda is currently serving five districts in the central region and mid-west of Uganda, including Nakasongola, Nakaseke, Luwero, Rakai, and Kiryandongo Districts.The organization, which was initially registered as a CBO Reg no CD-58, transformed into an NGO– Registration number S.5914/9040 in 2007. READ Uganda is owned by 30 member organizations in the central region and mid-west of Uganda, and its goal is to rally support behind the most vulnerable communities, including youth, children, women, and people living with HIV/AIDS.READ Uganda’s primary focus is to help these communities improve their quality of life, giving them a sense of purpose and helping them to build self-esteem. The organization achieves this goal by empowering communities through education, health, and economic development programs.READ Uganda’s education program focuses on improving literacy rates and educational opportunities for children in rural areas. The organization provides school supplies, scholarships, and literacy classes for children who lack access to education. READ Uganda also offers vocational training to young adults to equip them with skills that will enable them to earn a living.In terms of health, READ Uganda provides access to basic healthcare services and education on disease prevention. The organization also supports HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns and provides counseling services to those living with the virus.READ Uganda’s economic development program aims to empower communities through income-generating activities. The organization offers microfinance loans, business training, and entrepreneurship programs to help people start their own businesses and become financially independent.Rural Efforts for Action in Development (READ Uganda) has been doing an excellent job in empowering communities and improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of society.
