St. Joseph’s Hospital Maracha, also known as Maracha Hospital, is a private community hospital located in Nyadri sub-county, Maracha District, in the West Nile sub-region of the Northern Region of Uganda. This hospital serves the district of Maracha and its surrounding communities, providing quality health care services to those in need.Established in 1952 as an aid post, St. Joseph’s Hospital Maracha has grown over the years to become a fully fledged hospital. It is now a private, non-profit, community hospital owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arua and accredited by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau. The hospital has a planned capacity of 204 in-patient beds, providing a wide range of health services to the people of Maracha and beyond.The hospital is managed by a Board of Governors appointed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arua. St. Joseph’s Hospital Maracha offers a variety of services, including outpatient consultations, inpatient admissions, maternal and child health care, laboratory services, surgical services, and imaging services, among others.As of December 2019, the hospital attended to an average of 16,626 outpatients annually and admitted 6,145 inpatients annually on average, with a bed occupancy ratio of 70.5 percent. The hospital has a caesarean section ratio of 41.9 percent and conducts approximately 840 maternal deliveries every year on average.St. Joseph’s Hospital Maracha is conveniently located off the Vurra-Arua-Koboko-Oraba Road (Kaya Highway), approximately 31 kilometres (19 miles) north of Arua Regional Referral Hospital, in the city of Arua. The hospital is approximately 282 kilometres (175 miles) northwest of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, in the city of Gulu.
