In 2010, 80 mothers from Wanteete Village Kayunga met with Mr. Aaron Bukenya to discuss the possibility of starting a school in their village. They saw Mr. Bukenya as an example of someone who had received a good education, and they wanted the same for their children. The nearest school was three miles away, and they could not afford to send their children there.Moved by their plight, Mr. Bukenya founded St. Mark Schools in 2011. With just two teachers and 100 students, the school began its journey to provide access to quality education for all.Today, St. Mark Schools – Kayunga has grown to three levels of education, and it has become a beacon of hope for many families in the area. The school offers a compassionate approach to education, recognizing that many of its students come from difficult backgrounds.The school’s emphasis on not only academic excellence but also social and emotional development is what sets it apart from other schools. Students are not just numbers; they are individuals who are nurtured and supported by a caring community of teachers and staff.Mr. Bukenya’s vision for St. Mark Schools – Kayunga has brought about positive change in the lives of many children.
