The Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) has been at the forefront of pioneering private vocational education in Uganda. Since its establishment in 1998 and registration as a non-governmental organization in the year 2000, UGAPRIVI has been committed to improving the quality and image of private vocational training institutions in Uganda.UGAPRIVI recognizes the importance of private BTVET institutions in providing vocational skills training in Uganda, particularly given the limited capacity of public BTVET institutions. The organization’s aim is to foster collaboration between private training institutions and to improve the standards and relevance of the training provided, ensuring that Ugandan youth have access to high-quality vocational education and training.As a national organization with eight regional offices covering all districts of the country, UGAPRIVI ensures that poorer and structurally weaker areas are not left out of the initiative. The organization’s efforts are essential in providing appropriate opportunities for Ugandan youth to learn vocational skills, leading to better employment opportunities and an improved standard of living.UGAPRIVI’s pioneering work in private vocational education has led to a more skilled workforce that is vital for the growth and sustainability of businesses and industries in Uganda. The organization’s commitment to the promotion of BTVET and its values is a significant factor in the development of the country’s economy.UGAPRIVI’s success is evident in the fact that the majority of vocational skills training conducted in Uganda is currently provided by private BTVET institutions. UGAPRIVI remains dedicated to its mission of improving the quality and relevance of private vocational education in Uganda, ensuring that the country’s youth have access to the skills they need to succeed.
