Established in 1968, the hospital has been providing quality healthcare services to the community for over 50 years.Affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mbarara, Uganda Martyrs’ Hospital Ibanda is a non-profit hospital that operates on a small payment basis. However, the hospital ensures that no one is turned away due to lack of funds. With a bed capacity of 178, the hospital attends to an average of 19,097 outpatients annually, and 14,715 inpatients are admitted every year on average, with a bed occupancy ratio of 58.2 percent. The hospital also averages 2,663 maternal deliveries annually, with a caesarean section rate of 30.62 percent.Uganda Martyrs’ Hospital Ibanda is accredited by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau, and its services are reputable in the region. The hospital’s patient user fees account for 68.1 percent of its annual income as of December 2019.The hospital’s efforts towards building a sustainable healthcare system are commendable.
