University of Eldoret 

The University of Eldoret is a higher learning institution located in the heart of Uasin Gishu County, approximately 9 km along the Eldoret-Ziwa road in Eldoret town. Established in 1946 by the white settlers, it started as a Large Scale Farmers Training Centre. In 1984, the institution was converted to a teachers’ training college and renamed Moi Teachers’ Training College. The college offered Diploma Science Teachers Training to aspiring teachers.The college was later taken over by Moi University in 1990 as a campus due to the double intake crisis and renamed Chepkoilel Campus. It became a campus of Natural, Basic, and Applied Science programmes. This move enabled the campus to expand its course offerings and provide a wider range of educational opportunities to students.In 2010, President Mwai Kibaki, through Legal Notice No. 125 of 13 August 2010, recognized the exceptional work done by the campus and upgraded it to a University College with the name Chepkoilel University College, a Constituent College of Moi University. The recognition was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the staff, students, and alumni of the institution.The University College was renamed University of Eldoret in March 2013, following the award of a charter by the president. The University has since expanded its academic programmes to include a wide range of courses, from undergraduate to postgraduate level.
