A Key Player in Uganda’s Water and Sanitation Sector!

UWASNET is a leading Civil Society Organization (CSO) in Uganda’s Water and Sanitation sub-sector. Founded in 2000 by the Government of Uganda and development partners, UWASNET has been instrumental in coordinating CSOs and strengthening their contributions to the sector.Through its mandate to facilitate learning and sharing, documentation of CSO’s work, and promoting partnerships and collaborations, UWASNET has been able to contribute significantly to the National Development Plan of poverty alleviation through universal access to sustainable, safe water and improved standards of sanitation and hygiene.With a membership of 140 CSOs, including international, national, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and private sector, UWASNET’s impact has been felt all over Uganda.These CSOs work in various thematic areas, including water supply, sanitation, and hygiene improvement, WASH in Emergency, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), environment, climate change, Water for Production, capacity development, community engagement, lobbying, and advocacy.UWASNET has been at the forefront of advocacy for gender equity and HIV/AIDS in the sector, ensuring that these cross-cutting issues are addressed in all CSOs’ work. Their commitment to the sector’s development and poverty alleviation is unquestionable, and they continue to work tirelessly towards achieving their goals.
