Responding to Uganda’s Challenges!

In Uganda, development has not taken place equally, with some regions still experiencing significant poverty rates and food insecurity. The effects of climate change are exacerbating these challenges, making it more important than ever for organizations like ACTED to respond.Since 2007, ACTED has been working in Uganda to address the country’s most pressing issues. The organization maintains offices in Kampala and Karamoja and is currently implementing projects in Nakapiripirit, Nakasongola, and Mbarara Districts.In Nakapiripirit, ACTED is building community resilience to shocks, such as floods and droughts, through training on disaster risk reduction and management. This is critical in a region that experiences significant food insecurity during extended dry periods associated with climate change.Meanwhile, in Nakasongola and Mbarara, ACTED’s focus is on mitigating greenhouse gas emissions associated with cattle farming. Through sustainable practices and training for farmers, ACTED is contributing to Uganda’s efforts to combat climate change and support environmental sustainability.With over 1.4 million refugees from neighboring conflicts adding further pressure on limited resources, ACTED’s work is vital. The organization’s focus on economic development, job creation, climate change adaptation, and environmental sustainability is helping to create a better future for some of Uganda’s most vulnerable communities.ACTED is making a real difference in the lives of the people it serves, and its impact will be felt for years to come. As Uganda continues to face significant challenges in the years ahead, organizations like ACTED will play a critical role in supporting the country’s development and building a brighter future for all Ugandans.
