AFRICAN CHILD TRUST.

Empowering Women and Children in Uganda!

African Child Trust (ACT) is a non-profit organization that has been operating in Uganda since 2005. The organization began its work in the Busoga region, in partnership with Christian Vision Ministries.Since then, ACT has extended its operations to other districts in the region, working tirelessly to support vulnerable women and children in Uganda. One of the most notable projects undertaken by ACT is the Widows Sustainable Whole Life Skills Project, launched in 2011.The project aims to empower widows in the region by providing them with business skills and opportunities to generate income. This not only helps them support their families but also promotes a culture of self-reliance and entrepreneurship.ACT has also been instrumental in supporting the education of children in the region. By 2018, more than 600 children had benefitted from full ACT scholarships or welfare support. Many of these children have gone on to receive tertiary education, diplomas, or even graduated from university, including one who qualified as a medical doctor. The impact of ACT’s work can be seen in the lives of the people it serves. The widows involved in the Widows Sustainable Whole Life Skills Project have been able to increase their incomes and provide for their families. The children who have received scholarships have been able to access education that would have otherwise been out of reach. ACT’s work is transforming communities in Uganda and making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable women and children.
