I&M Bank Uganda, a commercial bank licensed by the Bank of Uganda.
Located in the heart of Kampala’s central business district at Plot 6/6A Kampala Road, I&M Bank Uganda offers a wide range of commercial banking services with a focus on providing financial solutions to non-governmental organizations and their staff. Established in 1993 by a group of businesspeople related by blood and marriage, the bank has grown to become one of the most trusted financial institutions in Uganda.
Over the years, I&M Bank Uganda has expanded its network, opening a second branch in Jinja in 1996 and acquiring Trans-Africa Bank Limited in 2002 after it was declared insolvent by the BOU. However, the bank’s ownership structure was impacted by changes to Ugandan banking laws in the wake of several bank failures, which barred family members from jointly owning more than 49% of a financial institution. In 2009, Bank PHB Group, a Nigerian financial services group, acquired an 80% stake in the bank for a cash payment of $62 million. However, the group was later declared insolvent in 2011, and its assets and some liabilities were acquired by Keystone Bank Limited.
In 2015, Keystone Bank divested from I&M Bank Uganda, selling a 42% stake to private equity firm 8 Miles Fund and the remaining 38% to three individuals. Today, I&M Bank Uganda’s total assets are valued at USh 814.3 billion, with shareholders’ equity of USh 114.1 billion, making it a formidable player in Uganda’s banking sector.
At I&M Bank Uganda, customers can expect excellent customer service and innovative financial solutions tailored to meet their needs. The bank’s experienced and highly skilled team of professionals is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals.
In conclusion, we highly recommend I&M Bank Uganda to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy financial partner. With its solid track record, extensive network, and commitment to excellence, the bank is poised to continue playing a vital role in Uganda’s financial landscape for years to come.
