Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School, located in Kampala, Uganda, is a private Catholic school that has been providing quality education to its students since its establishment in 1999. Named after the tent peg turned into a tree by Père Simon Lourdel M.Afr. (known as Fr. Mapera), the school’s name “Mapeera” is the Baganda rendition of “Mon Pere”. With a motto of “Education is Liberation”, Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School has a strong commitment to providing its students with a well-rounded education that not only focuses on academic excellence, but also on character development. The school’s religious affiliation with the Catholic Church serves as a foundation for this commitment, and is reflected in its mission to nurture students who are not only academically competent, but also spiritually grounded. The school’s founder, Fr. Mulumba Charles, had a vision to create an institution that would provide quality education to the youth of Uganda, and this vision has been realized through Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School. With over 1,000 students today, the school has grown from its humble beginnings of three teachers and eight students. Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School is a mixed school for both O’ level and A’ level students, and is comprised of four houses, each with its own distinct color of white and blue. The school’s athletics program includes soccer, rugby, track, volleyball, and basketball, and its students proudly go by the nickname “Mapeera”. The school’s rivals include St. Mary’s College Kisubi and King’s College Budo. Under the leadership of its current headmaster, Damulira Joseph, Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School continues to provide a nurturing environment for its students. With a strong commitment to academic excellence, character development, and spiritual growth, this school is truly where education meets faith.
