Kitojo Hospital

Kitojo Hospital is a rural hospital located in Kitojo Village, near Rwaihamba trading center, in Toro sub-region, Western Uganda. The hospital was built, owned and administered by Kitojo Integrated Development Association (KIDA), a community development NGO, headed by Reverend Ezra Musobozi. The hospital has become a model of community-driven healthcare, providing essential medical services to the local community. Kitojo Hospital serves Ruteete, Kasenda, and Buheesi sub-counties, as well as Kiko town council. The hospital has 30 beds and modern facilities and equipment, making it one of the best-equipped rural hospitals in Western Uganda. The hospital’s staff consists of highly trained doctors, nurses, and support staff, who are committed to providing quality healthcare services to their patients. The hospital’s location, about 25 kilometers south of Fort Portal, makes it easily accessible to patients from surrounding areas. This accessibility is critical in providing timely medical attention to patients who may not have access to transportation. Kitojo Hospital’s commitment to community-driven healthcare is evident in its mission to provide quality healthcare services to the local community, regardless of their ability to pay. The hospital has a sliding fee scale, which enables patients to pay according to their financial capacity. This ensures that the hospital’s services remain accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic status. The hospital’s success is a testament to the importance of community-driven healthcare. By working closely with the local community, Kitojo Hospital has been able to provide essential medical services to those who need it most.
