YUMBE REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL

Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital is a 100-bed public hospital located in Yumbe, the political and commercial capital of Yumbe District. The hospital serves not only Yumbe District but also parts of the neighboring districts of Moyo, Koboko, Maracha, and Arua.Despite being constructed in the 1960s, the hospital did not receive a facelift or renovation for 50 years, until the government of Uganda, with funding from the Saudi Fund for Development, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), contracted Sadeem Al-Kuwait General Trading & Contracting Company to renovate, rehabilitate and expand the hospital.The hospital’s expansion project includes upgrades to the Emergency Room, Outpatient Department, Maternity Unit, and Postnatal Ward, as well as the procurement of an ambulance, a double-cabin pick-up truck, and a mini-bus to facilitate patient transfer and improve hospital outreach. The hospital will also receive physical infrastructure upgrades, equipment, and furniture, as well as the rehabilitation of old staff quarters and the construction of new staff houses.With these upgrades, Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital is well-positioned to continue providing quality healthcare to the people of Yumbe and surrounding districts.
